WHITFIELD, Bryan John

(born November 1,1944, died February 20, 2018)

Retired Professor of Mathematics and Technology at Sir Sandford Fleming College.

Dear husband of Mary Beth Aspinall, beloved father of Julia and Margot (Valentim Vieira) and loving grandfather of Lucas and John. Son of the late Stan and Alta Whitfield. Brother of Joan (Larry), Margaret (Gordon) and Agnes. He will also be missed by nieces Olga, Sophia, Alex (and their father Stan and wife Tiiu), Anne, Karen and Dana, nephew Colin and sisters-in-law Francie, Corey and Katherine Anne. Bryan loved playing hockey and tennis, growing his own food in his large vegetable garden, exploring his world through travel, speaking Spanish with friends from the New Canadians Centre, hiking in the woods with Mary Beth, meditating with his friends at the Buddhist Place and pondering the big questions of human existence. Most of all he loved the people in his life – friends and family. He was funny, loving and non-judgmental and accepted and enjoyed a diverse circle of people with all their quirks and foibles. There will never be another like him. May he be always surrounded by our “bubble of love” as he surely was in life. Grateful thanks go out to Dr. Michael Gibson and the Palliative Care team at PRHC for their excellent and loving care. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 2:00 PM at EMMANUEL UNITED CHURCH  (534 George Street, with visitation 1-2 pm.
