MOHINDRA, Dr. Baldev Krishan

January 3, 1941 – April 11, 2017

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dr. Baldev Krishan Mohindra on April 11, 2017 after a brief illness.  He is the loving and much loved husband of Asha (Doosaj) Mohindra for 49 years and is survived by his only son Ashvin Mohindra (Becky) and grandchildren Evan and Neela.  Dear brother of Preet Bala Sood and the late Sharda Sud.  He was born in 1941 in Kericho, Kenya and made his way to Canada to study medicine at the University of Toronto in 1960.  A graduate in 1964, he interned through Toronto until 1974 completing his residency in Haematology, Oncology and Internal Medicine.  Dr. Mohindra began his practice in Peterborough in Internal Medicine and over saw the Chemotherapy Clinic at St. Joseph’s Hospital until its move to Civic Hospital for over 36 years.

He was well respected throughout the community as a tireless fundraiser and organizer for many charitable organizations (PRHC Foundation, the Canadian Canoe Museum and Hospice Peterborough to name a few).  Dr. Mohindra was known by his colleagues and patients a thoughtful, compassionate physician who always advocated for the best possible care for his patients. He will be missed+ immensely.

Friends and relatives will be received at the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE (2510 Bensfort Rd., Peterborough) on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from 6:00-9:00 p.m.  Ceremonies will be held on  Thursday, April 13, 2017 at  5:00 pm.  In memory of Dr. Mohindra, the family has requested donations be made to the Peterborough Regional Health Centre or to Hospice Peterborough.  On line condolences may be made at www.highlandparkfuneralcentre.com.
