August 21, 1925 ~ September 2, 2017 (age 92) 92 Years Old

REAUME, Gerard, "Gerry", Joseph  (August 21, 1925 - September 2, 2017, Aged 93 years. Born in Tilbury, Ontario and died in Peterborough, Ontario.)

He passed away peacefully at the Royal Gardens Retirement Home with his 2 daughters and son-on-law and four legged friend Calli by his side.  His path in life was greatly influenced by his humble beginnings and his catholic upbringing. At a very young age he knew the path to success was through education and hard work. He joined the Navy underage so he could receive a free education and graduated from the University of Guelph. It wasn't long after his move to Peterborough that he started his first business, Trent Valley Excavators and he started Peterborough's first pool business - Trent Pools.  Many years later after his move to Halifax he started The Weed Man and was the top sales in Canada for 5 years running.    He was an astute business man and loved playing the stock market.  Even as his health was deteriorating he still had a hard time parting with his desk where he spent so many hours. Family was very important to him and even after his move to Halifax he always made 2 trips a year to visit with his children, grandchildren and his siblings and friends. Loving father of Virginia Keating (Michael), Kim McWilliams (the late John) and Andrew (Karen).  Cherished grandfather of Rebecca Herrell (Shawn), Sarah Ryan, Shay McWilliams (George Quinby), Cole McWilliams (Kelsey D’Altoe) and Guinevere Reaume, and great grandfather of Jack, Will, Camden, Madilyn and Ruby.  Predeceased by his many brothers and sisters.  Gerry will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received at the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE 2510 Bensfort Rd., Peterborough on Friday, September 8, 2017 from 1:00-2:00 P.M.   Funeral Prayers to follow at 2:00 P.M.  Reception Highland Park Reception Centre.  In memory of Gerry, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.  On line condolences may be made at www.highlandparkfuneralcentre.com
