I recently connected with Joan as a former member of Survivors Abreast and we shared a couple of cards, etc, as we both stated how often we thought of each other and the great memories with the team. So sorry to lose her at such a young age. Heartfelt sympathy to Clare and all the family.

We had such a short time together but we will always remember the luncheon you and Clare prepared for us even when you where in such pain, you made us feel like royalty and went out of your way to make us a beautiful lunch. We wish we had more time together but will cherish the time we had. We wish we could be there to celebrate Joan's life and support Clare and the Oliver and Bates family but you will be in our thoughts and prayers. Joan will be forever in our heats. Hugs to Clare.

Words cannot express how much I loved Joan. She had a huge heart and was always thinking of others. We taught together for many years. We shared many stories and giggles. One of the best giggles occurred while we were in a paddle boat. Joan wanted to retrieve some lillies for a pond. Lillies have a long, strong root. We did retrieve the Lilly but almost needed a rescue boat. Very funny, better if you had seen it in person. I will miss our visits, shopping trips and car tours. A true angel was taken from us on Wednesday. XO XO

We would like to express our sincere sympathy in Joan's passing. She will always bring special memories, especially of her lovely singing voice at our wedding many years ago (She wished we had chosen an easier piece! But her rendition of "Evergreen" was lovely) and her witty conversations and sense of humor, at the many Oliver events we were privileged to attend. 'Most recent memory is of her participation in the murder mystery at Settler's Village. She will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. Murry and Grace
