Died peacefully after a long illness on June 23, 2017 in Sydney, Australia with his loving partner, May Conder and his son Michael at his side. Preceded in death by his dearly loved wife Patricia Anne Carey.
Loving father to Kathleen (Guy Carson), Loretta (Mike Corbeil), Tim, and Mike (Lorraine Ferrao).Grandfather (Poppa) to Alysha St John (Jon). Jessica (Albert Noel) and Matt Corbeil (Caitlin Cox),Matt Swann (Brenna Hansen), Erin Carey (Taylor Bowsin).Great-Grandfather(Poppa Joe) to Madeleine, Stellan, and Aiden St John, and Atticus Joseph Noel. Great friend with May's children Lynn, David, and Alan Conder in Australia. Predeceased by his beloved Uncle Matt, and Aunt Kathleen Carey.
Joe enjoyed a rich and full life of family, friendships, travel, sports, theatre, books, film, and many volunteer activities. A natural born teacher Joe took great joy and pride in his students at Kenner Collegiate and PCVS. With the death of his wife Patricia and retirement, Joe was fortunate enough to start a new chapter in his life. Dividing his time between Canada and Australia, he shared many wonderful years with May Conder. He will be so greatly missed by us all but we have many happy memories. We will miss his quick mind and his adventurous spirit .We will treasure memories of our family gatherings with spirited conversation, good food and drink.
Friends are invited to a celebration of life and luncheon Monday July 31, 2017 at 11:00 am at Highland Park Funeral Centre, 2510 Bensfort Road. A private family burial will take place following the service.
