It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of Roland Ethier, who passed on Tuesday September 5th, 2017 at Peterborough Regional Health Centre.  Roland “Rolly” Ethier was born in 1930 in Ottawa, ON, and adopted by Joseph & Stella Ethier.   As an accomplished Sports writer, Rolly spent many years at the North Bay Nugget and eventually Broadcast News.  He was also an avid golfer, passionate baseball fan and occasional political enthusiast.

Rolly who is survived by his wife Laurie of 65 years, and brother Larry (Teresa), was the proud father of five children, Nancy (Colin) from Stouffville, Andy (Lynda) & Steve (Carol) from Peterborough, Ron (Mary) from Pembroke and Denise (Craig) from Toronto.  His life adventures led him & his family from North Bay to Toronto to Peterborough and eventually to Campbellford where he spent many years as the Publishing Editor of the Campbellford Courier.  He was also a loving Grandfather to Danielle, Andrea, Kate, Kelly and Caiden and a Great Grandfather to Brooklyn.

The family will be holding a Celebration of Life for Rolly on Saturday September 23rd between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. at Highland Park Funeral Home, 2510 Bensfort Rd, Peterborough, ON.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Diabetes Canada as a tribute in Rolly’s name at www.diabetes.ca.
