Laurence "Laurie" Gabrielle (Champagne) Ethier

The family announces with sorrow the death of Laurence (Laurie) Gabriel Ethier (nee: Champagne).  In her 84th year Laurie passed peacefully October 19th at Peterborough Regional Health Facility, joining her husband of 65 years, Rolly Ethier. 

The daughter of the late Zephirin Champagne and Mathilde Dufresne, Laurie was born and raised in Corbeil, ON, and married Rolly on February 23, 1952.  Their life together brought them from North Bay to Toronto to Peterborough and Pembroke, eventually settling in Campbellford, ON for over 20 years. The last few years saw them return to Peterborough.  An avid card and dart player, Laurie was a loving & proud Mother to her five children Nancy (Colin) from Stouffville, Andy (Lynda) & Steve (Carol) from Peterborough, Ron (Mary) from Pembroke and Denise (Craig) from Toronto.  She was a devoted Grandmother to her five Grandchildren, Danielle, Andrea, Kate, Kelly and Caiden and her only Great Grandchild, Brooklyn.  She taught many that red wine and potato chips are always a good idea.  Survived by her sister Cecil (Gilbert Aubut) and brother Girard (Alice).  Pre-deceased by brothers Louis (Pat surviving), Jim (Betty surviving) and Charlie (Kay) and sisters Helen (Bob Beaver) and Aline (Gerry Truchon).

The family will be holding a Celebration of Life for Laurie on Saturday November 4th between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. at Highland Park Funeral Home, 2510 Bensfort Rd, Peterborough, ON.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ontario Lung Association at www.lungontario.ca, in memory of Laurie.

The loss is immeasurable, but so is the love left behind…
