BORLAND: Margaret May (Long time Member of St. James United Church): Peacefully with her family by her side at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Sunday, September 25, 2016 in her 84th year. Marg, beloved wife of 65 years to Wellington “Wimpy” Borland. Loving and devoted mother of David (Donna), and Lynn Borland. Cherished Grandmother of Alyssa, Kurtis, and Dillon. Dear sister of Dorothy Hicklin (Herb, predeceased), Harold Freeman (Pearl, predeceased), and sister-in-law of Keith Borland (Denyse). Predeceased by her sisters Violet Bell (Russ, predeceased), and Betty Faux (Tom, predeceased). Loving aunt of many nieces and nephews. Daughter of the late John Freeman and Florence Thompson. Margaret was born, raised and lived her life in the south end of Peterborough. She worked for 40 years with Carley, Lech, Lightbody and O’Brien Law firm. She was an avid softball player with Ashbys and her basketball team won several championships. Her team pictures hang in the Peterborough Sports Hall of Fame. She was a tireless volunteer with such groups as Telecare, Snofest, Kiwanis Scott’s Plain, St. James UCW and Breakfast Club. She also made costumes for over 35 years for St. James Players. She loved her grandchildren and followed them through all their sports and activities. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service in St. James United Church on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. with visitation from 1:30 until service time. Reverend Julie van Haaften officiating. Reception to follow in St. James Church Hall.
