It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Raymond Alfred Craig on April 18th in his 88th year with his beloved wife Joan Sylvia Craig (Coombes) of 68 years by his side. He was the devoted and loving father of Wendy Ruthowsky (Dave), Gary Craig (Bonnie), Kim Rowland (Ed), and Cathy Ruzzini (Marco).  The loving Papa of Craig, Lindsay, Keri, Cameron, David, Courtney, Tony and Alessandra and proud of his five great-grandchildren. Ray was born and raised by Alfred John Craig and Gladys Viola Craig (Scobel), living his entire life in Peterborough. Brothers were Sidney Bertran (Rene (Gandy)) and Calvin Kenneth, predeceased. Ray joined the Peterborough Police Department in 1959 and retired in 1989 as Staff Sergeant of Juvenile Division.  He was best known in the City of Peterborough at schools early in his career as Elmer the Safety Elephant.  He was an active member of the Kinsmen Club, and Kinsmen K-40 Club for over 40 years.  He was served on the Board of Directors of Kinsmen Garden Court Apartments. Ray’s family sends a special thanks to Rhema Sukumaran, a good Samaritan, for all her help and support given to Ray and Joan during his final moments.  We also thank the medical staff of Peterborough Clinic for their courageous effort during those final moments.
