My deepest sympathies to Teresa's family and friends. Though we had lost touch over the last 10 years I was so sad to hear of her passing. Teresa opened her home to when I was a student at Fleming College and was an absolute rock when I fell ill that year. Teresa taught me a lot about people and had a wonderful spirit. She will be missed.

We have only knownTeresa since 2011 as we moved into our home next door as Teresa and Herb were moving into theirs on Village Crescent. Our daughter Samantha is special needs and as parents we have limited knowledge on resources, legislation and elusive details on programs. Teresa took the initiative to help us navigate the system and Samantha has greatly benefited from her guidance, knowledge and insights. These benefits will enhance Samantha's life for many many years to come.
Teresa was more than an advocate for us, she became a friend; the kind of neighbor everyone wants to have. She will be missed.

Dear Eileen, Lorne and family,
You have my sincerest and deepest condolences for your loss. Your daughter was, and continues to be, a true inspiration to us all. She was an ardent advocate; brilliant, thoughtful and compassionate. Teresa’s passion and dedication was unparalleled. If this provides any little comfort, her impact will live on. Her loss is felt throughout the communities that she helped as an advocate, as a voice for change, and as the President of ARCH Disability Law Centre. Teresa was a close and dear friend. I wish you all the strength and comfort during this devastating time.

I had the very great honour to have worked with Teresa these past few years. I first met her while sitting on the BOD of the PLWD committee for the city of Peterborough. We served together on the Peterborough On NDP exec, where I later sat as their disAbility Rep. We later served federally striving for change for PLWD in Canada. She always encouraged me to do more, and achieve my highest potential. Thanks to knowing her great spirit, I was made more brave as a person living with a disability and learned to speak out and become a force for change. Thank You Teresa, Thank You for giving us your light and wisdom. This world has been made a better place because of you.

I knew Teresa when she lived in Toronto. We collaborated on working with abused women developing self help supports. Her commitment to hearing the women and reflecting their voices ethically was powerful. We kept in touch as friends. After she returned from Africa, her strong voice to have World Vision be held accountable for mistreatment of her had an impact. I was so impressed with her clarity about ensuring that justice needs to be done. Her voice continues to resonate with me now.

Myself and the staff here at Stradwicks send our sincere condolences to Teresa's family. Although we were not close friends as such, she was a friendly client. In fact we just completed a project for her and were not aware at the time of her illness.

Lorne and Eileen, Allison, Trevor and family, I was sad to hear of Teresa's passing. I remember her playing the flute with the Junior Choir and her amazing smile. I've been thinking about your family's support to me when I was music director at Emmanuel, and about the times you invited me to your home after choir practice. I hope Teresa's legacy of help and support continues to make a difference in the lives of those for whom she advocated.
