JONES, Murray (Proud citizen of Hiawatha First Nation) – While surrounded by his loving family, Murray entered into rest at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre, on Sunday, April 14, 2024, in his 88th year.
Beloved husband of the late Joyce (nee McDowell). Loving and devoted father of Deborah Jones (Fazal), Terry Ewing (Craig) and the late Jerry Jones. Proud grandfather of Chris (Frances), Allana, Denise, John (Miranda) and Mitchell. Cherished by 11 great-grandchildren. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Dear companion to Dorie Plunkett. Murray is predeceased by his parents Albert and Laura (nee Cowie), 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Murray will be lovingly remembered by his family, friends, community and all who knew him.
Murray began his proud career as a truck driver with Fred Nelson & Sons in 1956, with whom he worked for over 40 years. Upon their closing, Murray went on to become an owner/operator before working for Leahy Excavation until he retired at the age of 80. Murray was an avid golfer. He was a life-long fan of the Blue Jays, and found time to watch every game. Murray enjoyed watching his grandchildren John and Mitchell play hockey. He and Dorie loved getting in his car and going for a drive anywhere, road trips were one of his greatest pleasures.

A Celebration of Murray’s life will be held at Hiawatha L.I.F.E Services in the Gathering Place, 431 Hiawatha Line, on Sunday, May 26, 2024 from 2:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M.
