Alma "Cathy" Catherine (McDonald) Fitzgerald

FITZGERALD, Alma “Cathy” (September 14, 1932 – May 16, 2019) “Card player and egg salad maker extraordinaire”. Cathy passed away peacefully at Riverview Manor on Thursday, May 16th, 2019 in her 87th year. Cathy was raised on a farm in Kirkfield, Ontario. She moved to Peterborough as a young woman and worked at General Electric. There she met her first husband, Gerry Davis. They raised 3 children: Gerrine Longo (Chris), Kevin (Donna Ventresca) and Shaun. Later, Cathy worked at K-Mart and Dominion Store. She married Frank Fitzgerald (who also grew up in Kirkfield) and was step-mom to Bob, Joyce, Erica, Tony and Dan. Cathy was a loving grandma to Theresa Longo (Eduardo Mora), Eric Longo (Alison Mathewson), Tommy Davis (Karissa) and Sarah Davis (Eric Rorrer). She was the proud great-grandma of Rylan, Jaden, Grayson, Landri, Addilyn, Mark and Silvina. Cathy is predeceased by her parents Gladys and Harold McDonald, husband Frank Fitzgerald, sisters Helen Vandeloo (Cory), Margaret Harrigan (Harvey Kelly) and Florence Byrne (Bob), and brother Connie McDonald (Marlene). She will be sadly missed by her sister Mary Landry (Jim) and sister-in-law Marlene McDonald. Cathy will be fondly remembered by all her family and friends. A special thank-you to the wonderful staff of Riverview Manor. Cathy loved all of you. You were her family too. She appreciated the kindness and many gestures beyond the “call of duty” that you bestowed on her while she enjoyed the best view in Peterborough. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Church 300 Wilson Street, Peterborough on Friday, May 24th, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. A celebration of life reception will follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall 317 Hunter St. W. Peterborough immediately following the Mass.
