Doris Violeta Mary Irvine
Dec 20 1929 - June 3 2019
Doris passed away in her 90th year after a long life filled with love for and by her family.
Bunny leaves behind her devoted husband of 68 years John, who feels a deep loss for his lifetime companion. In John’s words, “My wife and I walked hand in hand everywhere we went.”
In addition, Doris leaves behind 4 children, 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and Ashley, Chloe and Jazz. Doris was a conservative, caring and generous matriarch who inspired 4 generations with a legacy of the importance and value of family. After celebrating life in 3 provinces Doris remained an Alberta prairie girl at heart. A good time was defined as a family affair of any kind, a pair of needles with a few skeins of wool, or a Friday evening square dancing with her hubby. Doris viewed her life as a glass most full, and was a generous philanthropist to a broad spectrum of locally based charitable causes. Never afraid to speak her mind, she strove to instill important core values to generations of family, all cloaked in a big blanket of her love.
John and family would like to extend their gratitude to the entire staff of Hospice Peterborough who assisted Doris and all of us through her final days. A big thank you to the palliative care teams in both Peterborough and Oshawa for their compassion and skill. Our heartfelt appreciation goes to Dr. Whiting, who established an extraordinary relationship with Mom in the final months of her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to a local charity of your choice.
