Gosselin, Garry James Peter
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Garry on Friday, November 16, 2018. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, at the PRHC at the age of 86. Beloved husband and best friend of Sheila (nee Scarlett) for 60 wonderful years. Loving father of Lori (Monty), the late Larry, Julie, Rob (Ramona), Jeff (Joanne) of Peterborough and Justin (Beth) of Oshawa. Cherished grandpa/poppa of Jade (John), Grace, Hunter, Joe, Jack, Hope and the youngest Cohen “Spiderman”. Honorary grandfather to Larissa and Angelina Valle. Dear brother of Yvonne (Bruce (dec.)) Mackay of Toronto. Predeceased by his parents James and Laura (Coffey) Gosselin, his mother and father-in-law Harold and Marguerite Scarlett, son Larry (1985) and infants Joseph (1967) and James (1972). Dear brother-in-law of the late John (Ferne) Scarlett, Alan (Jean) Scarlett, the late Raymond Scarlett, Robert (Emily) Scarlett. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Garry worked as Meat Manager at Buehler’s on Charlotte St. and was co-owner of Kawartha Food Fair Ltd. He loved a good game of cards, spending quality time with his family, jaunts to the casino, and service to the community – Sacred Heart Credit Union, St. Vincent de Paul Society. He was an honorary life member of Knights of Columbus Bishop Marrocco 4th Degree Assembly 882, and Ernest J. Wolff Council 798 where he served as Comptroller and Commander. Family and friends will be received at HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE, 2510 Bensfort Road, Peterborough on Wednesday, November 21st from 2:00 to 4:00 & 7:00 to 9:00 pm (Knights of Columbus Prayers 6:30 pm). Mass of Christian Burial will be held at SACRED HEART CHURCH, 208 Romaine Street on Thursday, November 22nd 2018 at 11:00 am. Interment St. Peter’s Cemetery followed by a reception in Sacred Heart Parish Hall. A thank you to staff at PRHC, especially Dr. Beamish and the amazing team at the palliative care unit. In memory of Garry, donations, if desired, made to St. Vincent de Paul Society – Sacred Heart/St. John’s, Palliative Care Unit at PRHC, Sick Kids, or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by his family.
