George Stewart Willshaw “The Candy Man”, passed away peacefully at Peterborough Hospice on October 28, 2019. He has joined his beloved wife Dorothy at last. A loving brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather, George is predeceased by his Son Douglas and his siblings, Jim, Rose, Katie, Emily and Louise. He is remembered fondly by his son Wayne (Sharon), his brothers and sister, Harold (Agnes), Lily and Max (Helen). He will live on through his grandchildren Amy (Wil) and Sean (Ali) and his cherished great grandchildren Logan, Rylan and Audrey. George would like to thank the many friends who cared for him from Care Partners and Saint Elizabeth, especially Penny, Doug, Bev, Jim, Art and Adrienne. He also appreciates all the support he received from The Veterans Affairs of Canada. A special thank you goes out to Hospice Peterborough for their wonderful care and compassion. You all made his last few weeks happy, peaceful and comfortable. Friends and family are invited to celebrate his extraordinary life with us at The Highland Park Chapel (2510 Bensfort Rd.), Sunday, November 3rd at 2pm. The celebration will be followed by a reception. A private family inurnment will take place Monday, November 4th. Flowers can be received at Highland Park Funeral Home.
