FERGUSON, Walter “Claire”; it is with great sadness that his family announces his passing at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 in his 84th year. Claire was born and raised a proud East City boy and was involved in many sports throughout his youth. His passion was hockey and he was a proud member of the Peterborough Oddfellows Junior B hockey team in the early 1950’s. Later in life he would become an award-winning coach of both hockey and baseball. He was also an active member of the Peterborough sports hall of fame. He was a great family man, and nothing made him happier than spending time with the ones he loved. Beloved husband of Phyllis (nee Willshaw), father of the late Pamela Bissonette (Randy), and survived by Penny Donaldson, Christopher Ferguson, Cindy Cuppy (Steve), Jeff Cruikshank (Claire) and Dean Cruikshank (Audrey). Grandpa will be forever missed by his grandchildren Shane, Samantha, Kayla, Kyle, Walker, Hailey, Tara, Tyler, Travis, Tory, Danielle, Matt, Chad, Chris, Troy and the late Cory and all of his great grand children . Predeceased by his parents Thomas and Lillie Ferguson, and his siblings Viola, Bernice, Carlyle, Marie, Cecil, Irene and Doug. Claire will be sadly missed by his many cousins, nieces and nephews. There will be a Celebration of Claire’s Life held at the PETERBOROUGH LIONS COMMUNITY CENTRE 347 Burnham St. Peterborough, on Sunday August 26, 2018 from 1:00-4:00 PM. It was Claire’s wishes to have donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
