Agnes (Babe) Gillen

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Agnes (Babe) Gillen (nee) McDougall at the age of 98 on Oct 26, 2023 at the Northridge LTCC in Oakville, predeceased by her husband Norman Gillen, former teacher at Crestwood S.S. Babe was the last survivor of nine siblings from Wakaw, Saskatchewan. Loving mother to seven children: Linda, Norma (Ian), Tim (predeceased), Monica (Craig), Jeff (Linda), Pam, Brad (Barb). Grandmother to twelve: Tia, Jennifer (predeceased), Lisa, Lucan, Roark, Quinn, Jessica, Emma, Sadie, Alanna, Natalie, and great grandmother to twenty-one.  She delighted her family and friends with her laughter and quick wit. She loved music, dancing, euchre, reading, golfing, gardening, the Blue Jays and the Peterborough Pete’s. Babe volunteered at St. Joseph’s Hospital for more than 25 years. She very much enjoyed her 20 plus years in the canteen area of the Memorial Centre. Babe said to say after her passing, with a smile on her face and a glint in her eye, “I’ll be seeing you!”

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Highland Park Funeral Centre 2510 Bensfort Rd Peterborough on Friday Nov 10th, 2023

Internment: 1:00pm Highland Park Cemetery

Celebration of Life: 1:30pm at Highland Park Funeral Home, Reception to follow
