BLAIKLOCK, Anke Luise (nee Steindorff): Peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, December 24, 2024 in her 84th year. Anke was born on November 8, 1941 in Germany and moved to Peterborough in her mid-twenties.
Beloved wife of 54 years to Ian Blaiklock (deceased). Predeceased by brothers, Jürgen, Jens and Uwe, all of Germany. Remembered lovingly by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and their families on both sides of the Atlantic. As well, Anke had a special bond to the Monkman family in Peterborough.
Anke spent most of her working life at the Peterborough Clinic. She loved her job as a lab technician and did not retire until age 70. Anke drew blood from thousands of Peterborough and area residents in her more than forty years at two different locations. For many years, Anke enjoyed participating in the dragon boats races with the team from the clinic.
Anke and Ian enjoyed many summers at their cottage on the north shore of Stoney Lake where they experienced wonderful times with their extended Huycke, Blaiklock and Duncan families. Anke loved the outdoors and could often be seen skiing at Bethany/Devil’s Elbow or the Kawartha Nordic. Anke also loved to knit and needlepoint in her spare time and was a member of St. Lukes Anglican Church.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Anke’s Memorial Service in the Chapel of Highland Park Funeral Centre on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at 2:00pm. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to PRHC in Anke’s memory.
