O’BRIEN, Ann “Maureen” (nee Murray)
It is with deep sadness that Maureen’s family announces her peaceful passing at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the age of 92. Born May 7, 1933, Maureen was the beloved daughter of the late Patrick Murray and the late Loretta (nee Harrington), and was the last surviving member of their 12 children.
Maureen was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Fergus Patrick O’Brien as well as their eldest son Murray O’Brien.
Maureen is survived by her 4 children, Erin Gabourie (Gerard), Steve (Laurie), Carrie Lynn Conroy (John) and Lisa Wheeler (Ken) and her daughter-in-law Patricia O’Brien (Terry) as well as her extended family members and friends.
Maureen devoted her life to her family, her home was always open, her table was always full, and her heart always generous. She was the proud grandmother of 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy.
Maureen will be remembered for her kindness, faith, resilience, devotion to her family and the steady presence she offered to all who were blessed to know her.
Friends will be received at the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE 2510 Bensfort Rd., Peterborough on Sunday, January 25, 2026, from 1:00-4:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at ST. JOSEPH’S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 300 County Rd 8., Douro on Monday, January 26, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Reception to follow in the St. Joseph’s Church Hall.
