Audrey Armitage Obituary

ARMITAGE,  Audrey Mary

Audrey of Peterborough, went peacefully in her sleep on June 28, 2021 to her next adventure. Cherished wife of 54 years to her surviving and faithful husband, Donald Francis Armitage. Destined and incredible mother to Christopher Donald Armitage (Kasthuri Armitage), and Tamela Mary Vasey (David McAulay). Adored super grandma to Brittany Armitage (Mike Copland), Cole Armitage, Dallas Armitage, Peyton Vasey, and Carter Armitage.

Audrey was the daughter of Daniel and Beverley Hedges (nee Thompson) of Peterborough and the granddaughter of Chief “Jack” John Thompson of the Peterborough Police and his wife Edwina May (nee Wedlock), big sister to Donna Hedges, David Hedges (Cheryl Hedges), John Hedges, and Russel Hedges (Sherry Hedges), sister-in-law to Laverne and Rosemary Armitage, and aunt to Michelle, Marjorie, Joanne, Kerry, Kevin, Paul (orig. Armitage), and Tom, Natalie, and Emily (orig. Hedges), the niece of Gwen and Edgar Thorpe (nee Thompson), William “Bill” and Doreena Thompson (Patton), and Nancy and Ken Sloan (nee Thompson), and an irreplicable friend and ally to her cousins and many others, including her maid-of-honor Ruth, friends of River Road South, and her family at Braidwood Bible Chapel.

Audrey took great pride in making her family home and neighborhood a place of love and safe haven, and was an active member of the Peterborough community. As a home-maker, many of her abilities were unmatched - from the best home-cooked meals for miles, to her abilities to sew ‘on request’ masterpiece Hallowe’en and play costumes for her children, neighborhood children, and her grandchildren, or prepare the perfect supplies and gear for family camping trips.

Born with a fierce determination to never let her physical challenges stand in the way of the life she wanted for herself or her family and friends, she will be a beacon of inspiration for generations to come. All will miss her until they see her again.
