Miller, Barbara “Barb” (nee Sheehy) born November 1, 1946, passed away peacefully at PRHC with her family & closest friends surrounding her on December 11, 2025.
Barb will be loved & missed most by her daughters Stephanie Coull (Terry) & Pamela Wilson (Mike) along with her two grandchildren Jack & Cameron Coull. Barb will be fondly remembered by her sister Ethelene Irwin (Burritt), her nieces, nephews & dearest friends. Barb is pre-deceased by her parents George & Ruby (nee Brown) Sheehy and sisters Eleanor Northey & Louise Barcroft.
Barb was born in Lindsay and spent her youngest years in Manilla before the Sheehy family moved to Peterborough. Barb graduated from PCVS & worked her early employment years with Victoria Grey & Trust before transitioning to a 42-year career with Parks Canada-Trent Severn Waterway in Peterborough. With Trent Severn, Barb grew & maintained many dear friendships that continued throughout her retirement.
Barb & her sisters remained close, becoming neighbours as each married & settled to raise their families in Lakehurst. Barb & Keith raised Stephanie & Pam until 2000, when Barb returned to Peterborough. Barb spent the last 17 years residing with Stephanie & her family where she cherished the opportunity to watch her grandchildren grow.
Mom was an optimist & a “matter of fact” woman who knew what she wanted right to the end. Mom always put family first & valued time spent with friends. Mom loved country music, sharing meals with those she loved, crocheting, classic movies & reading. Mom was always quick to laugh & had a great sense of humor.
Thank-you to Ruth; moms oldest & dearest friend who supported us all throughout mom’s final days. Thank-you to Sandra & Brenda for sharing those final moments with us at mom’s side. Thank-you to the staff & care teams at PRHC. A special appreciation to the doctors & nurses of the Palliative Care Unit. Thank-you to all our friends & family for visiting & checking in with support. May we all be so blessed to have the love that mom received from everyone.
In lieu of flowers, we’d be honored to accept a donation in moms name to either Wesley United Church (Buckhorn) or the Canadian Cancer Society. A private service will be held at a future date, in line with mom’s wishes. Mom will be laid to rest at Sandy Lake Cemetery in Lakehurst.
