It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brian Paul Hickey on Sunday, December 20th, 2020 at the age of 70. Brian leaves behind his wife Lynn (nee Spencer), his children Spencer (Lisa), Trevor (Jenny) and Melissa (Al). Brian also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and his siblings Don, Bill (Ann), Donna, Mary (Brian), Paul and Coleen (Leonard). He is predeceased by his parents Ethel and Elmer Hickey and brother in-law Bill Plager. Brian grew up in East City and worked at the Westclox for 17 years before managing P.G. Towns & Sons General Store in Douro. He was a generous man who gave back to the community in many ways. He was iconic in resurrecting youth baseball in Douro and was a dedicated coach with the Douro Minor Hockey Association. Brian had a love for music and, he and his wife Lynn were part of the church choir for many years at St. Joseph’s Parish in Douro and more recently at St. Anne’s Parish in Peterborough. A celebration of Brian’s life will take place at a later date when we can all gather together again and share stories. In memory of Brian and in lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.
