With extraordinary courage and grace following a short battle with cancer, Christine Elizabeth Warner passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025, at the Peterborough Hospice, surrounded by her loving family. At just 42, Christine’s life was tragically short—but it was lived fully, generously, and with a spirit that touched everyone she met.
Born on November 24, 1982, Christine was a vibrant, social, and deeply compassionate person who left lasting impressions wherever she went. She built lifelong friendships in her hometown of Leaside, during cherished summers at Sparrow Lake Camp, through her studies at Ridley College and Wilfrid Laurier University, and during her many years living and working in Western Canada. Christine had a rare gift for bringing people together—her friendships were not just important to her; they were a central part of her life.
During her time out west, Christine met her love, Jarold Ketterer. Their bond was filled with warmth, adventure, and together, they built a life sharing countless joyful moments exploring nature, supporting one another, and embracing the beauty of everyday life. Christine also cherished the time she spent with Jarold’s family, whose love and connection she held in the highest regard.
A devoted animal lover, Christine found great joy and purpose in caring for all creatures, and will be greatly missed by all her pets. She also treasured her time at the family cottage, where some of her happiest memories were made—laughing, relaxing, and sharing stories with her cousins and extended family by the water’s edge.
Christine had a warm, generous spirit and a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures: crafting with her hands, sharing laughter, and creating meaningful moments with those she loved. Her bright personality, deep empathy, and unwavering optimism will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her devoted parents, Stewart and Sheena Warner; her loving sister, Lindsay Mellor (Dale); her cherished niece and nephew, Emily and Joshua and her beloved fiancé, Jarold Ketterer and his family; mother Shirley Kine, father Jim Ketterer (Flora), brothers Corbin (Jasmine) and Landon (Steph) and beloved niece Sorsha. Christine held her family close to her heart through every chapter of her life.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, September 5th, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. with Words of Remembrance at 2:30, at Highland Park Funeral Centre, Peterborough to honour Christine’s memory and celebrate the light she brought into so many lives. A separate Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Christine’s name may be made to Hospice Peterborough or the Bow Valley SPCA in Canmore—two causes close to her heart.
Though her time with us was far too brief, Christine’s love, strength, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
