FITZGERALD, Christopher “Sid”

Suddenly on Friday, August 4, 2023 at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre at the age of 59.  Born June 26, 1964. Son of the late Carl and Betty Fitzgerald.  Beloved husband of Ruth (nee Marchen) for 37 years.  Devoted father to their amazing children Katelyn, Carl (Rachel), Matthew (Aly) and Holly Killen.  Papa leaves behind his precious granddaughter Sophie.  Lovingly remembered by his heart broken siblings Stephen (the late Mary Lou), Cathy Bell (Doug), Anne-Marie and Tim.  Brother-in-law of Michael (Leanne). Loved son-in-law of the late Gloria Maudsley (Jack).  Chris was an uncle to 5 nephews and 5 nieces whom he loved dearly.  Chris leaves many cousins, and many close friends including many from high school, which speak to what a wonderful person he was.  Chris will be sadly missed by his many friends and all who knew him. Chris was respected by his co-workers at the City of Peterborough as a foreman in the Arena Division.  Chris had many accomplishments over the time he was with us and leaves behind a legacy of quick wit, huge heart and devotion to his family and friends.  In keeping with with Chris’ wishes there will be a graveside service held at the Highland Park Cemetery.  An Irish Wake will be held at the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE 2510 Bensfort Rd., Peterborough on Thursday, August 10, 2023 from 5:00-8:00 PM.  Eulogies to begin at 6:30 PM.  Please help honour his wishes by bringing a copy of your favorite picture and a story which you are welcome to share.  Although we are all saddened at his sudden passing, we know he would like us all to laugh, and remember all the of the fun times we’ve shared.  In honour of Sid please wear comfortable clothes with a splash of green.    In memory of Sid, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Special Olympics would be appreciated by the family.
