RYE, Debbie (nee Steenburgh): Peacefully surrounded by her loving family and her best friend Nancy Boughton on June 29, 2025 three days after her 73rd birthday. Debbie was a 34 year plus employee of Scotia Bank starting as a teller and ending her career as Manager of Scotia Bank in Port Hope. Beloved wife of Gerry and loving mother of Scott (Elke) and Geoff (Laura). Predeceased by her parents Harold and Rose Steenburgh and her brother Randy. Debbie is survived by her sisters Cheryl (Kirk) Keitel, Cindy (Ed) Schulz, Cathy (Gerry, deceased) Lavigne, Kim (Dan) Wilson, and brothers Darrell (Susie) Steenburgh and Ron (Kathy) Steenburgh. Debbie was also the sister-in-law of Cindy Steenburgh, Sally Rye, Richard (Judy) Rye, and Philip (Rita) Rye. Debbie will also be fondly remembered by all her cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Debbie was the loving wife and best friend to Gerry through 5 years of courtship and 53 years of marriage. Gerry thanks her for sharing her life with him and for taking him on the last first date of his life. She was also the very proud and loving grandmother to Ashley, Julia and Easton Rye always supporting and cheering them on in all their endeavours. She loved them more than they will ever know. Debbie was the anchor of our family and totally devoted to her husband and sons. Her support and encouragement led to successful careers and lives for them all. Debbie loved to bake, garden, Nascar but more than anything she loved to dance. The family would like to express our sincere appreciation to the staff on B6 Floor and the Palliative Care Unit for the compassionate and attentive care they provided for Debbie. A Private Family Graveside Service is to be held. We invite Family and Friends to join a Celebration of Life and Tribute Dance to take place August 15, 2025 at the Peterborough Legion from 6:30 pm to 11:30 pm. Donations may be made in Debbie’s memory to the Alzheimer Society or PRHC Foundation.
