Donald James Jackett

JACKETT, Donald “Don” James – Passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, June 29th, 2025 at PRHC in his 86th year.  Don will be greatly missed by his family, especially his beloved wife of 65 years Lenore (nee Webster).  Loving father of Vicki Cole (the late Tom) and Andrea Jackett.  Proud Grandpa of Devon and Liam Cole, and Leah and Kieran Grant.  Survived by his sister Lynn Stinson (Ken), and brother-in-law Bruce Webster (Nancy).  Predeceased by his parents Howard and Bessie, his brothers Ken (Judy) and Wayne (the late Sharon), as well as his sister-in-law Connie Campbell and brother-in-law Murray Webster.  Don will be remembered fondly by his nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and many close friends.

Don was born and raised in Lindsay and began his accounting career after high school, working full time while completing his courses through Queen’s University.  In 1961 he moved to Peterborough to join McColl Turner LLP, where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1963.  Don was made a Partner in 1971 and remained so until his retirement in 2005, mentoring many people over the years.  He continued working part time for the firm for several years after retirement.  Don was very generous with his time giving back to his community through volunteer positions with CNIB, the Peterborough Foundation, the Sisters of St. Joseph, and Highland Park Funeral Centre and Cemetery.

Don was an avid sportsman.  In his free time he enjoyed hockey, playing from childhood until the age of 65, and golf, playing into his 80’s as a longtime member of the Peterborough Golf and Country Club. Don was a loyal fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs,the Toronto Blue Jays, and the Peterborough Petes.

The family would like to thank Don’s ICU team at PRHC for their excellent care and support.

A private family interment will be held at Highland Park Cemetery.  A Celebration of Life will take place on August 10th, 2025 from 1-4 pm at Highland Park Funeral Centre, 2510 Bensfort Road, Peterborough.  Donations to PRHC Foundation – ICU, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation in memory of Don would be greatly appreciated by the family.  Online condolences may be made by visiting www.highlandparkfuneralcentre.com.
