Donald Edward Jones

March 12, 1930 ~ August 26, 2023 (age 93) 93 Years Old


JONES, Donald Edward Jones - Our hearts are heavy, but we rejoice in knowing that Donald is now at rest in the arms of our Heavenly Father.

Donald passed away August 26, 2023 at his home with his beloved wife by his bedside.  He was in his 94th year having “lived a long, happy and fulfilling life, with no regrets”.

He will be forever loved and missed by his beloved Wife Florence R. (Farquhar) Jones of 51 years, who was her confidante, mentor and best friend. 

Dear father of Pamela Morin (Gilles deceased).  Grandfather to Rodney Forsyth (Joanne), Bryon Mulligan (Stacey) & Richard Mulligan (Tracey). Great Grandfather to Alycia, Bethany, Tia, Kate, Gregory &Wyatt.

Predeceased by his Parents Edward & Iva Maude (Harding) Jones, Son Donald W., Sisters Gail, Beverley and Brother Robert Jones.

Brother of Vern (Doreen deceased), Raymond (Joan) Jones and Sister Sharon (Ormond) McKinley.

A very special Uncle too many Nieces & Nephews, Grand-Nieces & Nephews and Cousins in the Farquhar Clan, Jones & Harding families.

Donald was born and educated in Peterborough.  His lifetime vocation until his retirement December 1995 was in the Heating, Air Conditioning and Ventilation business.  Donald owned and operated his own business during that time.

Donald was a Life Member of Lions Clubs International.

His Masonic Career began in 1962 when he was initiated into Norwood Lodge A.F.& A.M. No. 223 G.R.C.  He served as Worshipful Master in 1971 and became a Life Member of that Lodge in 1976.  He later affiliated with William James Dunlop Lodge No.675, G.R.C., then Clementi Lodge No. 31, G.R.C.

A member of Supreme Council 33 degree, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry of Canada.

He served the Grand Chapter of Ontario, Order of the Eastern Star as Worthy Grand Patron in 1994-95.   He received an appointment to serve a three year term for the General Grand Chapter, Canadian Provinces as their Scottish Rite Charitable Foundation Chairman in 2000-2003. He was Life Member of Peterborough Chapter No. 161 Order of the Eastern Star in his 40th year.

An active member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Norwood, Ontario. 

Over the past 62 years Ministry and Music have been an important part of his life.  He has provided pulpit supply & his musical talent in many Churches in Peterborough District, in addition to several Seniors Retirement and Nursing Homes, which has afforded him great satisfaction and comfort.

Visitation will take place at Highland Park Funeral Centre on Saturday, September 30th from 12:00 noon to 1:45 pm.

A Masonic & Order of the Eastern Star Service will be conducted at 1:45pm just prior to the Funeral Service which will commence at 2:00pm and will be officiated by the Reverend Blaine Dunnett.

Grateful appreciation to Doctors Dixon, Romanowski, Meade, Mule’ and the Staff at Northumberland Hills Hospital, Cobourg, Ontario.
