Donald Murray Martin

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Don Martin on September 27, 2026, at the age of 92. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 years, Barbara, and his children, Rob (Lori), Jeanne (Tim), and Ken (Anna). He was Papa to his grandchildren, Jason (Alyssa), Dan (Mackenzie), Ellen, Paige (Harry), Allison and Emma, and Big Papa to his great-grandsons, Bennett and Jones. He will be missed by his brother Bob and wife Carol in Calgary. Predeceased by his parents, Jack and Grace Martin, sisters, Marj and Joan, and brother, Doug. He will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews. Don was born in Coe Hill, Ontario and left home at a young age to start his working career. In his early years he worked for Bell Canada, Lands and Forests, and Belleville Police before starting a long career with Ontario Hydro as a security guard. He enjoyed sports, especially baseball and hockey. In his later years he loved to sit on his front porch and spend time with his family.

Visitation will be held at Highland Park Funeral Centre, 2510 Bensfort Rd., Peterborough, on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, and Thursday, October 1 from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm, with a funeral service and reception to follow. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Queensborough on Friday, October 2 at 11:00 am.
