It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Edward Miller on Monday, February 1st, 2021at the age of 80 at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre (Palliative Care Unit). Beloved husband and best friend of Marilyn (Wilson) for 54 years.  Loving father of Scott (Kimberly).  Proud Grandad to his cherished Granddaughter Megan (Joey). Dear brother of Annabelle and his twin sister Doris. Brother-in-law to Theresa Miller, Valerie Miller, Wayne Skinner, Jean Haughton and Joan Austin. Predeceased by his parents Victor and Elsie and siblings Bill, Bob, Jack, Doug, Marilyn and Iona. Don was born in Newburg, ON.  His father was a well driller and Don learned his trade from his Dad. In 1974 Don moved his family to Peterborough to start work at Faulkner Well Drilling and later worked with Herb Lang Well Drilling.  Don drilled in the Peterborough area for 30 years. He was a Cub and Scout leader for a number of years. When his health allowed Don enjoyed slow pitch ball, horse shoes and bowling. Playing bid euchre and teasing the ladies was one of his favourite past times.  Over the past 17 years Don's sense of humour got him through a number of illnesses and surgeries.   Life is not always fair, but he played the hand he was dealt with strength and courage. A number of years ago Don found this verse which he copied and kept --

'In some sad hour I'll hold your trembling hand and plead the passing moments for delay.  When one of us must pass beyond the real and one must stay.  It matters not for us which it shall be. Who first shall tread alone the hidden ways, but God be gentle in that lonely hour to the one who stays.`

Due to the Pandemic cremation has taken place and there will be a private family service at a later date.  If so desired, donations can be made to PRHC Palliative Care, the Peterborough Humane Society Building Fund or a charity of your choice and can be made through the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE 2510 Bensfort Rd., Peterborough ON.
