Peacefully at Hospice Peterborough, on May 17th 2022,at the age of 73, Douglas Lavern Chapman entered into rest with his wife and daughters by his side. Devoted husband to Elaine Chapman (nee Hyland) for 52 years. Loving father to Tricia Kay (Dave), Megan Chapman and Chelsea his spoiled Samoyed. Proud Grandpa to Shelby. Doug is pre deceased by his parents Lavern and Grace Chapman (d2000) and sister Beth McMullen (d2011) and brother in law Gary McMullen (d2021). Dear brother in law to Ralph(Linda) Hyland, June(Dave) Rafuse, Dale(Larry d.2010) Dixon and Cathy(Ted) Butson. Son in law to Wilma Hyland and a favourite Uncle to Vern, Doug and Mark. Doug will be missed by his many nieces and nephews. Doug was a devout Ford man. He loved his Model T’s, Model A’s and his 2 favorite ladies, his Fastback Mustang and Super Duty. Doug was a long time member of many car clubs including the AACA, MTFCI and MTFCA and travelled to shows and swap meets as far as Hershey, Pennsylvania. Also a 30 plus year member of the Kawartha Muzzleloaders Gun Club. Doug started working at General Electric at the young age of 17 and retired after 42 years in 2007. He worked in Wire and Cable, Nuclear, Transportation and large Motors over the years. He was a lover of animals. His heart was so huge when it came to his furry babies. His favorite dog breed being the Samoyed. Doug was a dad to 4 Sams over the years. Doug was very accepting of any animals his daughters would bring home. Especially Ozzwald the duck. Doug had a passion for music. He loved The Beetles, Roy Orbison and more recently Adele. You could find him often listening to his favorite tunes, relaxing with a whisky on the rocks. Doug’s family would like to thank Dr. Matheson and Dr. Beamish along with all the Palliative care staff at PRHC. A very special thank you to all the Hospice staff for their compassion, care and friendship over these few weeks. A celebration of life in Doug’s honour will take place at the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE 2510 Bensfort Rd., Peterborough on Sunday, June 12, 2022 from 1:00-4:00 PM.
