Douglas Vernon Clifford

Surrounded by love, Doug passed away peacefully at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Monday, December 16, 2024, at the age of 71. Predeceased by his loving parents Ray and Helen (nee Garvey) Clifford. Cherished and beloved brother of Maureen McBain, Barbara Clifford (Eric Newton) and Bill Clifford (Letty Cooper), and brother-in-law of Barbara Ann Clifford. Much loved uncle of Bill (Lisa), Bob (Tara), Kelly (Will), Kate (Chris) and Kim (Triston). Great-uncle of Henry, Charlotte, Ellie, Thomas and Taris. Best buddy of Jim Watkins. Doug was loved and supported by numerous cousins and so many friends, especially those from Community Living. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know him.

Doug lived at St. Monica’s house for 31 years. Heartfelt thanks to all his phenomenal “House” Mothers, especially Audrey Goucher and Lisa Rodriguez who loved and cared for Doug these last few years. Special thanks to Dr Mathew Moore F.P., Dr Jonathan Mallory, the medical team and the entire Nursing Staff in Palliative Care and the Occupational and Recreational Therapy Teams at PRHC for their incredibly supportive, loving and compassionate care provided to Doug during this last leg of his journey.

Family and friends will be received at the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE, 2510 Bensfort Road, on Saturday, January 4, 2024, from 1:30 P.M. – 2:30 P.M. followed by a celebration of Doug’s life at 3:00 P.M. and a light luncheon. Interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery to take place at a later date.
