Dr. John Arthur Bimm

BIMM, Dr. John Arthur: It is with great sadness that the family of Dr. John A. Bimm announces his peaceful passing at home on August 29, 2021 in his 88th year. John was the beloved husband of Sharon (Sherry) Bimm – nee Berry. He was the beloved son of the late H. Arthur Bimm and Alma L. Bimm (Boshart). Treasured step-father to Lisa Farshi and her husband Farzad, and Darrell Rich and his wife, Beverly. Proud and loving Step- Grandfather to Matthew Schellhorn, Elizabeth Schellhorn, and Jessica Rich (Scott Compeau). Cherished Step-Great Grandfather to Brynley Rich Compeau. Held dear to John’s heart was his sister, Lois, and her husband Graeme Leonard. Lovingly remembered by his nephews Greg (Lorraine) Leonard, and Phillip (Elizabeth) Leonard and special Great Uncle to Walker and Shepard Leonard. John and Sherry were very supportive of many Peterborough businesses as John, too, was an accomplished Orthodontist in Peterborough for 38 years. He studied at the University of Toronto and graduated from Dentistry in 1957, then continued his Doctorate Studies in Orthodontics from 1957- 1960. John will be fondly remembered by his colleagues and many neighbours and friends. John was an avid skier at the Bethany Ski Club and Mount Kirby and enjoyed many adventurous ski trips abroad, the most memorable being in the Andes in South America. He enjoyed cycling and many ‘sails and sunsets’ with Sherry by his side while propelling his sailboat across many of our beautiful Ontario waterways. John and Sherry were true kindred souls that loved each others company and travelled the world together. God speed John, on this your final journey. We love you and will dearly miss you. A Private family gathering and Celebration of John’s Life will be held at Little Lake Cemetery. If desired, condolences to Sherry and family can be expressed at www.highlandparkfuneralcentre.com. The family of Dr. John Bimm would like to thank the staff of B6 at Peterborough Regional Health Centre for their exceptional care of John and also extend sincere thanks to Saint Elizabeth Nursing Staff and Palliative Care Physicians for his continued care while at his private residence.
