Leshik, Elke Margarete (Rapin)
December 19, 1937 – January 1, 2025 (age 87)
Peacefully in the early hours of January 1st, 2025 at Riverview Manor Long Term Care in her 88th year. Beloved wife of Theodor (Ted) (deceased August 2021) for over 59 years. Devoted and loving mother of Sonja (Steve) and Tracey. Much beloved and proud Oma of Owen, Ava and Megan. Much loved sister of Eckhart Rapin and sister in law Doris Rapin. Dear Tante Elke to Tom and Helen. Predeceased by her parents Josef and Charlotte Rapin. Elke immigrated to Canada as a young girl with her family, arriving first in Quebec and then moving to Peterborough. The family settled in Peterborough with the draw of The General Electric Company. Elke worked as a secretary for the Engineering and Drafting Department, she left the GE to raise her family. Elke and Ted lived most of their married life on Glebemount Crescent where they tended to their beautiful gardens. Both loved flowers and always kept an immaculate property. Elke was known by friends and neighbours as “Mrs. Sweep” as she was always sweeping the driveway. They kept active by going for long daily walks and always stopped to chat with the neighbours. In retirement Ted and Elke enjoyed travelling with friends and family and going on day trips to local lakes. Elke was a devoted wife and loving Oma to her grandchildren who she adored. In keeping with Elke’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private service and celebration of life will take place in the Spring. The family wishes to thank the wonderful and compassionate staff at Riverview Manor Long Term Care for their care to Elke over the last 6 ½ years. Donations may be made in Elke’s memory to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice.
