With family by his side, and sunlight streaming through the window, Elmer passed away at PRHC on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at the age of 95. He is now reunited with his cherished wife Isabella who passed away in 2018. They met at a street dance and were still dancing 65 years later at their grandson’s wedding. He was the beloved father of Janice and Glen (Mary). He was proud grandfather (Poppa) of Joshua (Cara) and Jacob. And he was the ecstatic and doting great grandfather of Victoria.
He was grateful for any opportunity to spend time with his grandsons whether in Peterborough or if it meant travelling to Victoria, B.C., Kingston or Ottawa. He was there for their first days of school, Christmas and holiday celebrations, birthday parties, and all sorts of other adventures. When precious Victoria arrived in spring 2021 he had renewed energy. He looked forward to regular photo updates and eagerly anticipated special visits – Christmas morning in 2023 and visits at the cottage. He had a final special visit with her on Boxing Day when she blessed him with several hugs and kisses, much to his delight.
He was the devoted son of the late Cephas Brown and Effie (Linton). He was a dear brother of Doris Bent (Harold) and Harold Brown, both predeceased.
Elmer was a hard-working and dedicated family man who spent the last 7 years at Princess Gardens. Thank you to the Princess Gardens staff for their care and support. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Friends will be received at the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE 2510 Bensfort Rd., Peterborough on Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 12:30 P.M. until the time of the funeral service at 2:30 P.M. Interment at Highland Park Cemetery. Reception to follow in the Highland Park Reception Centre.
In memory of Elmer and in lieu of flowers, donations to the PRHC Foundation or the charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
A special thank you to the wonderful and caring staff on B4 at PRHC.
