COUGHLIN, Reverend Fr. Leo Timothy (Roman Catholic Priest with the Diocese of Peterborough in his 67th year of Holy Priesthood ) Peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre after a brief illness on Saturday, March 29, 2025 in his 94th year. Leo, beloved son of the late Charles Coughlin and Agnes Cleary. One of eleven children, Fr. Leo is survived by his sister Shirley Hartwick (+Joseph), and predeceased by his siblings; Rita Dupuis (+Xavier), Patricia Carroll (+Leonard), Richard (+Flora), Audrey Faux (+Gus), Charles, Barbara Sanderson (+Bud), Mary Saliba (+Joseph), Carmel Coughlin, and Gerald (Anne, surviving). Remembered lovingly by several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Farther Leo was ordained Priest in St. Peter’s Cathedral on May 31, 1958 and for 67 years faithfully ministered in various parishes throughout the diocese.
Leo’s real treasure in life was showing compassion to people who were finding life difficult or were carrying a heavy burden. He truly loved and enjoyed his ministry. His journey is complete, and he would say ‘It has been a truly wonderful trip, and I’m glad I did not miss it, so many wonderful people, so many caring people… what more could a person ask for.’ A Community Celebration of Fr. Leo’s Life will take place in Selwyn Outreach Centre 2686 Lakefield Road on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at 2:00pm. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in St. Paul’s Church, Norwood on Monday, April 7th at 11:00 am. (Parking opposite the church in the school parking lot). Interment St. Paul’s Cemetery.
