Surrounded by love, Fred passed away peacefully at Springdale Country Manor on Sunday, November 3, 2024, 1 day after his 83rd birthday. Beloved husband of 40 years to Eileen (nee Copland). Loving father of Chris (Brenda), Pete (Erin) and Jenna (David). Proud grandfather of Tyler (Stacey), Morgan (Alex), Griffin (Hope), Jacob, Allison, Mikayla (Cory), Jesse (Emily), Lannen, Deanna, Demi, Mason, Austin and Avery. Adoring great grandfather of Allison, Elsie, Hudson and Evelyn. Dear brother of Doris Nickson (Nick) and Lynda Parker (the late Doug), and brother-in-law of Heather Slater (Tom), John Copland (Lorel) and Rob Copland. Cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews. Lovingly remembered by the Stewart family and his “Misfits” fishing buddies. Fred is predeceased by his parents William and Ethel (nee Keffer) Stanbury, and sister Norma McEwen.
Fred was a proud and long-time employee of Quaker before retiring at the age of 59. In his role as HR Manager, he left a lasting impression on many past and present employees. He was a lifetime and active member of St. James United Church. Fred loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending his time hunting, fishing and playing in the ‘old timers’ hockey league. Fred loved his family and was happiest when he was surrounded by them during Sunday dinners, special events and holidays. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his family, dear friends and everyone who knew him.
In keeping with Fred’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received at the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE, 2510 Bensfort Road, on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Memorial Service at St. James United Church, 221 Romaine Street, on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. followed by a light luncheon. Interment at Little Lake Cemetery to take place at a later date.
In memory of Fred, donations to Parkinson Canada or St. James United Church would be greatly appreciated by the family and can be made; along with expressions of condolence, at www.highlandparkfuneralcentre.com
