KILLIAN, Geraldine Constance (Connie)
It is with great sadness but also with many happy memories that we say goodbye to our beloved mother Geraldine Constance (Connie) Killian (nee Daniel) born October 21, 1932. Mom passed away peacefully on the 31st of January 2026 at Extendicare Lakefield surrounded by love. A wonderful mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and close friend to many.
Beloved wife of the late Delmer (Del) Killian and loving mother of Norman Killian (Gail), Valorie Johnston (Doug), Wendelyn Lyall (David) (both deceased) and Douglas Killian (Gail). Cherished grandmother to Sheldon (deceased), Brendan (Kelly), Katherine (Craig), Tyson (Anna), Mackenzie, Victoria (Josh), Jonathan, Natalie (Adrian deceased) and Bethanie (Chris). And loving great grandmother to Mikayla, Madelyn, Charlotte, Elijah, Lex, London, Liv, River, Audrey Rose, Stanley, Orson and Wilfrid. Mom will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews.
Mom is predeceased by her parents Alfred and Dorothy Daniel (nee Mason) and sister's Genevieve Reynolds, June Sullivan, Justine Spencer and Shirley Downer. She is survived by her sister Sandra Lang and brother's Paul and David Daniel.
Mom and Dad lived in Toronto, Marmora, Havelock and Peterborough, Ontario and in Fredericton and Minto New Brunswick. During their time in Minto they made their home on a farm where they planted huge vegetable gardens, raised chickens, horses, dogs, cats and the occasional pig.
In Peterborough, our mother worked as a technician at Ethicon Sutures, was a home decorator and cafeteria worker at St. Peters High School. While residing in Havelock, Mom would volunteer her time at the local Public School with the children's reading program. Mom and Dad also ran group homes for underprivileged youth in both Peterborough and Fredericton, New Brunswick. Some of the children who had resided with Mom and Dad over the years continued to have contact with them well into their retirement.
Our mother was a loving and compassionate person who doted on her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was happiest when surrounded by family. We will miss her wit, her gentle smile and her unconditional love that she shared with us. Mom was an exceptionally creative person. She had a passion for art and throughout her life she worked with pottery and painted numerous landscapes both in Ontario and New Brunswick. Mom will be best remembered for preparing delicious meals at numerous family gatherings topped off with her signature cherry cheesecake, homemade chocolates and other tasty treats that always found their way into festive tins over the holidays.
The family are most grateful for the extraordinary care given by Dr. Faiza Shahbaz, Nurse Practitioner Lynne Wyse and the compassionate, professional staff at Extendicare Lakefield. Their love, kindness, attentiveness and understanding, was truly a gift, the family will always remember.
A Celebration of Connie’s Life will take place at the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE, 2510 Bensfort Rd., Peterborough on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 2:30 PM. Reception to follow in the Highland Park Reception Centre. Cremation and interment have already taken place.
In memory of Mom and in lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer Society of Peterborough or the Peterborough Humane Society would be greatly appreciated. Online condolences may be expressed at www.highlandparkfuneralcentre.com
