It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gilbert “Gil” Omer Collins, who died peacefully on April 16, 2025, at Hospice Peterborough, at the age of 80.
Born on January 25, 1945, in Hull, Quebec, Gil was the beloved son of the late Oliver and Fernande (née Paquin) Collins.
A devoted husband, he leaves behind Cecile (née Succee), his loving wife of 58 years. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and adventure.
Gil was a proud and devoted father to Carrie-Anne Collins (the late Sean Cook), the late Kimberly Collins, Timothy Collins (Lisa Jenni), and Bryan Collins (Rachel Wiersema). He was a cherished grandfather to Brenden Hart (Alyssa), Caleigh Hart (Meaghan), Adam Curley (Shawna), Shayne Curley (Krissy), Bradlee Curley (Chantel), Chaddryk Curley (Elisa), and Kye Collins, and a proud great-grandfather to Jackson, Nathan, Evelyn, Logan, Beckett, and Beau.
Gil is predeceased by his brother Ronald Collins (Rosemary) and survived by his brother Serge Noel (Nathalie). He will be fondly remembered by his sisters-in-law Dianne Kellar (Dave Dulmage), Marian Johnston (Barry Elmhirst), and Janet Thompson (Mitch), and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at Les Jardins du Souvenir, 75 Bd Fournier, Gatineau, QC J8X 3P5, on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 10:00 A.M.
The family is requesting that donations to the memory clinic can be made in place of flowers.
