Gregory "Gery" Leschynsky Obituary

Gregory (Gery) Leschynsky of Denbigh ON, died after a short illness on Sept 16th in Peterborough Hospital. He was 67 years old.

He is survived by his adoring wife, travel companion and captive audience, Paula (nee Jackson),and four loving children: Gary Leschynsky (Chrissy),of Toronto, Amanda Leschynsky of Angus, Tammy Sibbald (Andrew) of Oshawa and Michael Leschynsky (Jessica) of Toronto. He was the proud and loving "Pappy" of eight: Sienna ,Benjamin, Henry, Alyssa, Adam, Addison, Isabella and Nicholas.

In addition he had five stepchildren Geri Colliton (Jason), Shawn Curley (Renee), Colleen Reedy (Shawn),Brian Curley (Kristy), and Caroline Orth (Justin), all of upstate New York, who loved him dearly and were happy to share an additional 13 grandchildren and a great granddaughter.

He also leaves behind close friends Dave and Karen Savigny, Ed and Beulah Larche, Bruce and Dianne Wickens, Horst and Barbara Betz and Sharon Burgher.   His sense of humor was legendary, especially since he was so very quick with a wise remark or comeback and the memories and stories told to us all this past week have had us all laughing through tears.

He was predeceased  by his parents Michael and Maria and his brother Peter.

Gery worked many years in an electrical engineering capacity for Erico, and Sci-Can, designing several pieces of medical equipment and retiring early at 55. He was a man of many talents. He was an accomplished singer who loved karaoke and had various gigs around Toronto restaurants, bars, apartment buildings rib fests and retirement homes. He and Paula loved taking road trips together and he collected ships and lighthouses.

He spent this last year designing and building his 4th Hovercraft to fly on Denbigh Lake, but sorrowfully it was not quite ready to fly.

There was nothing more important to him than his family and close friends and he was always ready to lend an ear, a helping hand, some sound advice and anything else he could  help with.

He will be deeply missed.

There will be a Celebration of Life at his home at 19 Lane St, Denbigh on Saturday October 1st from 11 AM - 2 P.M.  A buffet lunch will be served and friends and neighbors are all welcome.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
