In Loving Memory of Our Beloved Nana and Mom

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Nana and Mom, [Helen Carey], on August 28, 2026, at the age of 92.

Nana’s greatest joy in life was her family. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren more than anything in the world. She was happiest when we were all together and took great pride in each and every one of us.

Nana will be lovingly remembered by her son James, [Marianne], and daughter Lynda; her grandchildren, [David, Stephanie, Jeffery, Joanna, Robert, Britanie and Michael]; and her great-grandchildren, [Isabelle, Allie, Julia, Tanner, Natalie and Edward]. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, [James Carey], mother [Francis Irwin] and father [George A. Irwin] and is now reunited. 

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Peoplecare Oakcrossing for the care, kindness, and compassion they showed Nana during her time with them. We are so grateful for the love and comfort they provided, and for the way they cared for her as though she were part of their own family. Your kindness will always be remembered and deeply appreciated.

Nana had a special love for Nova Scotia, a place that held so many happy memories and a very special piece of her heart.

She will always be remembered for her loving heart, her warmth, and the unconditional love she gave to her family.

We will miss her more than words can say, but we will carry her love and memories with us always.

A private family ceremony will be held to honour and celebrate Nana’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nana’s memory to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
