Helma Renate Gremer

It is with love and sadness that the family of Helma Renate Gremer announces her passing on October 18, 2025, in Peterborough, Ontario. Helma was born on July 26, 1941, in Amberg, Germany.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Lothar Gremer and dear friend Lloyd Hill. Helma will be deeply missed by her six children: Harry, Steve (Liz), Rob (Mary), Deb (Darrell), Pete (Lynnette), and Andy (Elisabeth).

Helma was a devoted and loving grandmother to Shannon, Lindsay (Enric), Aaron (Ashley), and April, and a cherished “Gigi” to her great-grandchildren Ezra, Quinn, and Orlin.

She is also survived by her five step-grandchildren: Amy, Chase, Meagan, Dayton and Kaylyn. 

Helma will be lovingly remembered by her dear friend Sue.

An avid baker and gardener, Helma found joy in the simple pleasures of home and family. Her kitchen was always filled with warmth, and her garden with color. She cherished time spent with her loved ones and will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and gentle spirit.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff of the Palliative Unit at Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Your extraordinary care, empathy, and support meant so much to Helma and to all of us during this difficult time.

A Celebration of Life reception for Helma will be held for family and friends at HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE, 2510 Bensfort Road, Peterborough, on Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Donations to the Palliative Care Unit at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre would be appreciated by the family.
