TURCO, Ilio: Surrounded by his loving family, Ilio passed peacefully at Hospice Peterborough on Saturday March 8th, 2025 in his 87th year. Beloved husband of the late Olga (nee Alves). Loving and devoted father of Lawrence (Lori), Steven (Michele), and Sandra (Glen). Cherished Nonno to Ashleigh (Isaac), Nicole (Damian), Adrian, Olivia, Emelia (Kyle), and Ethan. Great Nonno to Ada, Hutch and Margot. Predeceased by his parents Aristide and Regina and siblings, Arrigo (Onorina), Nella (Carin), Oscar (Oliana), Marino (Maria), Antonieta (Ernesto), Mauriutta (Mino) and Ermes (Enes). Ilio will be remembered by his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews from both the Turco and Alves families as well as many dear friends in both Canada and Italy. A heartfelt thank you to Mary Ann for her dedication and kindness over the past 16 years. Mary Ann’s unwavering support and compassion was a source of immense comfort to Ilio and Olga. We are profoundly grateful for her care and friendship.
Ilio was born with a dream in his heart, he arrived in Canada at the age of 22, determined to build a better life. In Kingston, he met his beloved wife, Olga. Together, they later established their roots in Peterborough, where Ilio founded Turco Tile in 1968. A business that grew into a cornerstone of the community for 57 remarkable years. Through his hardwork and passion, Turco Tile became not just a company, but a symbol of craftsmanship, integrity and dedication. Ilio took immense pride in his work, pouring his heart into every project and building relationships that spanned generations. His legacy in Turco Tile is a testament to his hardworking spirit and dedication. A proud member of the Peterborough and District Italian Club, Ilio cherished his heritage and contributed greatly to the community he called home. His legacy is one of ambition, love and resilience, leaving an everlasting mark on the lives of those who knew him. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE, 2510 Bensfort Road on Thursday March 13th from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00pm. Funeral Mass at the Cathedral of St. Peter-In-Chains 411 Reid St. Peterborough on Friday March 14th 2025 at 10:30 am. Reception to follow at the Highland Park Reception Centre. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Webster, her dedicated team, and the compassionate staff and volunteers at Hospice Peterborough for their exceptional care and support.
