Irene Lydia (Davies) Payne

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mom, Irene Lydia Payne, on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Extendicare Peterborough in her 95th year. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert (Larry) Payne.

Mom’s greatest joy was her family, her loving children, Cathy (Al), Bonnie (Paul), Shelley (Terry), Jeff (Chiarina). She was predeceased by her son, Rob.

She was a proud grandmother to Jacqueline, Alicia, Devin (Olivia), Matt (Danielle), Kaleigh (Mike), Luke (Megan), Caitlyn (Rodrick), Kristin (Dave), Blake, Michelle (Dan), and Lisa (Chris); great grandmother of 13 who brought her tremendous joy. Survived by her sister, Marion Wilson; predeceased by her parents, Eleanor and Arthur Davies, brother, Robert Davies, sisters, Eleanor Hooper, and Muriel Post. Also, fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Mom truly loved life, sharing countless treasured memories on Paudash Lake with family and friends.

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Maltman and the wonderful staff at Extendicare Peterborough. Your care and compassion for our mom will never be forgotten.

Mom meant the world to us. There will never be a day we don’t miss you and Dad.

Until we meet again, rest peacefully.

Friends and family are invited to Highland Park Funeral Centre, 2510 Bensfort Rd., Peterborough on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 12 p.m. for visitation. A service will be held at 2 p.m. with a reception to follow.
