Nicholson, Jacqueline Janice
A beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend, Jacqueline Janice Nicholson (nee Villeneuve) passed away in Pembroke, Ontario on Thursday, August 7th, 2025.
Born on February 19,1962, to parents Alfred and Evelyn (Hildebrandt) Villeneuve, Jackie grew up in Barry's Bay. Following her graduation with two diplomas (Social Work and Recreation Leadership) from Sir Sanford Fleming College, Jackie was employed by Peterborough Youth Services where she used her talents, resourcefulness and people skills to help numerous youth and their families for 35 years. Her caring and outgoing nature made everyone feel they were 'seen' and valued.
Jackie married her spouse of many years, John Nicholson, also from Barry's Bay, in 1984. Together they raised their children Courtney and Gavin in Peterborough.
Predeceased by her parents, husband, John (in 2018), their daughter, Courtney (in 2018), brothers John and Alfred, and sisters Therese, Hedwig, and Catherine, Jackie leaves behind her beloved son, Gavin to deeply mourn her, as well as her remaining sisters Angela, Claire and Marie. She will also be sadly missed by the rest of her family members and dear friends.
Jackie's wish was to have family and friends attend a celebratory Mass at St. Alphonsus Liguori Church in Peterborough. Funeral Mass will be held ST. ALPHONSUS LIGUORI ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1066 Western Ave., Peterborough on Thursday September. 4, 2025 at 1:00 pm with a private burial to follow at Highland Park Cemetery. In honour of Jackie’s love of family, friends, and life, we encourage you to donate to a favourite charity of yours in her honour. Please give someone a hug and a smile in memory of the countless smiles and hugs that Jackie gave to others. Online condolences may be made at www.highlandparkfuneralcentre.com
It is with heart felt gratitude that we thank Applewood Manor in Peterborough and Miramichi Lodge (Pembroke Long Term Care) for the care and dignity the PSW’s, nurses, doctors and staff showed towards Jackie and her family as our beloved Jackie was making her transition from this life to her eternal reward. And of course, our heartfelt and undying gratitude to her devoted friend Rose who assisted and supported Jackie in the final part of her life journey as well as her son Gavin.
As a common quotes goes, “Live your life thinking of and doing for others and you will have a life
well lived”.
