It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts we announce that Jean Florence Sayer (née Hogg), passed peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, on Monday, August 4th, 2025, at the age of 96. Predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Leslie, her sister Pat and brother Michael. Loving and devoted Mum of Richard Sayer (Patricia) and Janine Kentish (Stephen). Much loved Nanna of Sara Cooper (Jamie), Daniel Millette (Toni) and Richard Millette (Lynsey). Very proud Granny of Caleb and Hunter. She will be sadly missed by her nieces, nephews and many friends in Canada, England and U.S., especially her long-time friends (adopted as family) Lesley and the Late Don Pattison and Jean and the Late David Kentish.
Jean had a love for music, singing and volunteering with many organizations, and especially enjoyed being a Leader with the Girl Guides. She also had many hobbies and interests, shared with Les. Jean and Les built and flew free-flight and rubber model airplanes for many years. After moving to Canada, they became members of SAM 86 (Society of Antique Modellers). They were also avid bird watchers, and took lots of pride in their flower gardens. Both thoroughly enjoyed volunteering with the Butterfly Garden in Oshawa and The Friends of Presqu’ile.
Jean’s family would like to thank the staff and doctors at PRHC for all their excellent care and compassion in the last week she was with us.
In keeping with Jean’s wishes, cremation has taken place. As requested by her Grandchildren, her Cloud Tramp plane has joined her in cremation. At a later date, the family will plant a Memorial tree along side Les’ at Presqui’le Provincial Park and ashes will be scattered where there are Loons nearby.
In memory of Jean, donations to Durham Region Field Naturalists, Thickson’s Wood Land Trust, The Friends of Presqu’ile Park or Peterborough Regional Health Care Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family. On-line condolences may be expressed at www.highlandparkfuneralcentre.com
