Jean (John) Louis AQUIN

Peacefully, in the loving presence of family at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Monday, March 22nd, 2021 in his 86th year. Jean (John) Louis Joseph William Aquin originally of Lachine, Quebec. Cherished and devoted father and grandfather to daughter Christine (Andrew and Stefan), daughter Michele and Donald Graham (Aidan (Kelci), Clare, Raissa, Ambrose, Grace, Genevieve), son Rene and Sarah (Chantale and Colin), and predeceased by his beloved son Andre. Great-grandfather to Matthew Graham.  Jean, one of ten children of Theodore and Obelina (Irene) Aquin, is survived by his siblings Suzanne, Nicole and Danny of Lachine, and cherished nieces and nephews.

Jean was devoted to his wife Louise, his family, music, work and his faith. He was an accomplished soloist, member of various church choirs throughout the Diocese of Peterborough for decades, and played upright bass with various big bands and jazz musicians back home and in Peterborough. He was a highly skilled and meticulous tradesman throughout his life, working at Standard Railway, Traveller Boats, Aquin Ornamental Ironworks and Canadian General Electric. Jean was a proud French Canadian and Habs fan with a great sense of humour, a generous heart and spirit, was a mentor to many, and possessed a positive outlook and stubborn determination that served him well throughout his life. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him.

The Aquin family thanks Jean's friends and good neighbours for their care, support and friendship. Thank you to the exceptional medical staff of PRHC, especially physicians Dr. John Beamish and Dr. Matthew Moore for their support and care. A private funeral mass will be held with interment at St. Peter's Cemetery to follow.
