He was often remembered for his energetic play by play of CFL football and was seen and heard these past 18 years hosting broadcasts on CHEX TV and Kruz Radio, the howl of the wolf on 101.5 Wolf FM. Through his news show "Strictly Personal", he became known for his colourful and sometimes controversial news reports and interviews.

Moving to Peterborough, Ontario in 1988, this became a city he grew to love and call home. John is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Dorothy. Loving father to Cheryl, Perry (Kathy), Paul, Shawna (Dan) George. Cherished Grandpa of Lindsay, Shannon (Baughn Deleff), Holly (Ray) McCann, Ryan, Kyle, Tyler, Brianna, Brenden, Adam, Eric and Evan and Great-Grandpa to Wylder. John will be sadly missed by his many nephews and nieces and his many friends throughout the world.
