His siblings and their families: Rosemary (Mel) Wilson, Patricia (Peter deceased) Milligan, Linda (John) Nadeau, Frank (Cindy) Dorrington and Wendy (Dennis) McDonald. He was the 4th born of 7 children, he grew up and attended school in Peterborough. From 1960-65 John was in the Canadian Armed Forces with the Black Watch Royal Highland Regiment where he spent most of his military service stationed in Germany. After returning to Canada and leaving the military, John met and married the love of his life Lorna. John worked 27 years at Outboard Marine, Peterborough and then was a Correction Officer at Millbrook, ON where he retired. John and Lorna spent 44 happy years at their beloved home at RR#2 Omemee, ON where they raised their kids, tended to their vegetable and flower gardens - starting from seed in his greenhouse and worked on his model HO scale trains in the basement. John was a Chartered member of the Fowlers Corners Lions Club. He and Lorna spent many years Square Dancing with Peterborough Lift Locks Squares and Ottonabe Squares. They exhibited and often sold out their Folk Art for years at many Craft Shows - John would cut/carve the wood and Lorna would paint. In recent years John worked on more advanced wood carvings that he would enter into competitions. John enjoyed playing Mexican Trains with his ‘gang’ each month with good food and many laughs.
