Obituary

RITCHIE, Kenneth
Peacefully at Hospice Peterborough, with family by his side, on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the age of 92.

Beloved husband of Hazel (née Webster) for 67 years. Loving father of Nicola Kaufman and Andrea Shury (Brian). Cherished grandfather of James Kaufman (Taylor Yonkman), Robert Kaufman (Jayelin Flint), Lilyanne Shury (Jacob Campbell), and Amelia Shury. Proud great-grandfather to Kylie and Norah Kaufman. Dear brother of Christine Prescott (Frank). Ken will be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, extended family, and all who were touched by his life.

Born in England, Ken and his family immigrated to Canada in 1973, beginning a new chapter filled with opportunity and adventure. He built a successful career with Polysar in Sarnia in sales, and later with Paris Playground in International Sales. His work allowed him to travel the globe, giving him the chance to experience many of the good things life has to offer—something he never took for granted.

To all who met him, Ken’s smile and kindness were unforgettable. His gentleness, warmth, and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression. Above all else, Ken loved his family immensely. Not a day went by without him telling them how deeply he loved them, and his megawatt smile and boundless affection will remain a legacy his family will carry forward always. He also shared a special bond with his son-in-law Brian, who held a meaningful place in his life.

In accordance with Ken’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will be having a small , private gathering to celebrate his life. In memory of Ken, and in lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Peterborough would be greatly appreciated. In honour of a life well lived, please raise a glass of single malt.
