Laverne LeMoire Obituary

LEMOIRE, Laverne Albert of Douro, Ontario passed away peacefully at home in his 91st year on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 - enveloped in the spirit of friendship, music, and prayer.

This kind, loyal, humorous, and special man “waltzed” into Heaven surrounded by his loving wife of 62 years, Carmella (Heffernan) and family. Beloved father of Michael (Anne) Downeyville, Jerome (Sue) Peterborough, Philip of Scarborough, Denis (Deanna) and Laureen (John Murphy) of Peterborough. Predeceased by Baby Mary Ellen LeMoire (1970).  Cherished grandfather of Maddie Bay LeMoire, Ashley, Lyndon and Jordan LeMoire, Shannon, Grace, Ellen, Kathryn and Daniel Murphy.

Brother of Barbara Mouncey.  Brother-in-law of Shirley LeMoire, Jean Heffernan, Teresa Westlake, Anne Heffernan, and Bernard Sullivan.  Predeceased by his parents Albert LeMoire and Madeleine (Hamilton) Wheeler, and siblings Doreen (Robert) Kemp, Paul (Joan) LeMoire, Donald LeMoire, Frank LeMoire, David Wheeler and by his in-laws Sister Isabel, Joseph, Father Bernard and Gerald Heffernan, Monica Sullivan, Helen (Vincent) Condon, and Roger Westlake.

Throughout his life Laverne touched the lives of everyone he met, often sharing jokes, stories and making friends. Laverne will be remembered by his legacy of deep faith, generosity, and thoughtfulness - and of course his quick wit.  His loves were dancing, singing, cards, family, and above all The Lord. There will never be enough words to adequately describe the beautiful imprint Laverne has left on our hearts. “Bunker – A Friend to All.”

A heartfelt thanks to Dr. Friesen, Dr. Hughes and all his friends and family who provided support and care for Laverne throughout his life. Visitation will be held at HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE, 2510 Bensfort Road, Peterborough on Friday 1:00- 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Parish Prayers 12:30 PM.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST.
